Tesco Pig

Trevor Salmon

Having seen a Sloppee Pig used with devastating effect over the weed I went on line to try and buy some for myself. The few I could find in the UK were grossly over priced compared to the USA prices so I decided to put together a bulk order. Two weeks later I was informed that there was no stock and they would be getting no more in which meant the trip in 2 days time would be "Pigless".

That evening in Tesco's I happened to notice a large nylon serving spoon that just screamed "Pig" so armed with a couple to try I went home and dug out the lure bits and pieces box.

The first job was to cut the spoon off the handle; a slot was cut in the wide end to allow the hook shank to line up with the top line of the spoon and the eye of the hook set to lay flat in the curve. A piece of solid stainless wire was the formed with an eye on the end, the other end was passed through a hole drilled in the front of the spoon, the eye placed under the hook eye and a 3mm nut and bolt used to hold both eyes through the spoon. The nut and eyes were then coated with epoxy to make sure nothing moved.
